Chris Porter is appearing in three shows of Theatre by the Lake’s 2019 Summer Season.
Delighted to be part of the company, Chris writes:
I’ve always wanted the challenge of the Theatre By The Lake season in Keswick, three plays in rep, two rehearsed concurrently and the third rehearsing during the day while we perform either of the other two in the evening… definitely a challenge to keep your head in the right play on the right day. I couldn’t be happier with the plays or the diversity of characters I get to be. In Ladykillers I’m the trusty PC McDonald, as well as the redoubtable Mrs (yes, MRS) Tromelyton. In Little Voice I play Ray Say, a part I saw Pete Postlethwaite play in the original production at the National Theatre (in 1992) and was played by Michael Caine in the film (no pressure then!). Lastly, I’m Dr Ash in Dear Uncle, this is Ayckbourn’s adaptation of Uncle Vanya. Both writers have a remarkable insight into the plight of people trapped in their own lives by fear and loneliness and are still able to have a laugh at the same time, though this is at the more serious end of Ayckbourn’s work. It’s a pleasure going to work each morning.
