...let us tell you about Actorum. No matter whether you are fresh
out of drama school or have been in the business for years, Actorum has
something special to offer you.
Actorum is an actors’ cooperative. Every member has two roles - as an actor
and as an agent for the group. If you are interested in joining us, just send
us your professional details along with any information of current projects so
that we can see your work. We will consider you not only as an actor who would
fill a gap in our portfolio but also as an potential agent. If we think you
have what we are looking for, you will be invited to make a series of office
visits.
If everything goes well, we will then invite you to join as a provisional
member. When you are not busy as an actor, you will come into the
office on average once a week to be an agent. Actorum currently
employs a lead agent to represent the agency in the market.
The members work alongside the lead agent to support this role and should soon learn
how to deal effectively with directors, casting directors and others seeking
to employ actors. You will see the work of your fellow members so that you
are able to suggest them for suitable roles. You will quickly
acquire a broad knowledge of the business and what is happening in it.
Your own career will be carefully nurtured by the group, who will offer you all
the advice, support and encouragement you may need. A career
strategy will be developed with your participation, which will guide the group
in their efforts to get you work. You will at all times be able to
see precisely what is being done on your behalf.
For experienced actors, who have
hitherto used a conventional agent, the transparency of the process and the
friendship and support of the other actors in the agency will come as a
thoroughly refreshing change.
For the actor just beginning, a
cooperative offers an unrivalled opportunity to learn the business and the
skills he or she needs to further their career.
Actorum was the first actors’
cooperative. It is still the best.
