Mike Sengelow in BBC Radio4’s Angel at My Table wins Best Drama

An Angel At My Table – Best Drama at BBC Radio Awards

Producers and Writers of Angel at My Table recieve award from Phil Glenister

The radio adaptation of Janet Frame’s novel an Angel at My Table won best drama at the recent BBC Radio Awards, hosted by Lenny Henry at BBC Broadcasting House. Mike Sengelow plays various characters throughout the haunting radio play which was adapted by Anita Sullivan and produced by Karen Rose at Sweet Talk for Radio 4

Janet Frame was New Zealand’s best known but least public author. The author of twelve novels, four story collections, one book of poetry and three volumes of autobiography, even at the height of her success Frame shunned publicity, which had the effect of making the media and her readership even more intrusively interested.

The awards are a celebration of audio drama, on air and online, and are about giving recognition to the actors, writers, producers, sound designers, and others who work in the genre.

Prize-givers at the ceremony included Alison Steadman, Stephen Tompkinson, Jessica Raine, Mark Ravenhill, Meera Syal and Fiona Shaw.
