LIFT Festival 2014 end of Year Christmas Performance
Harry Napier supported Charles Dance, Mark Rylance, Juliet Stevenson and Dianna Rigg in a one-off touching performance of Truman Capote’s A Christmas Memory
With the atmospheric and deft support of Harry on cello (with some very clever use of a looping pedal) these stars of British theatre gave a poignant and powerful reading of the festive piece from one of America’s greatest writers. This was offset by the stunning, recently restored venue of the chapel in Kings College London on The Strand.
LIFT 2014 is the 20th anniversary of the festival and this year has platformed a gorgeous diversity of work that wouldn’t otherwise have been seen in London. Much of this work was political and engaged with the big ideas of our times: freedom, justice, and environmental and technological change. The bi-annual festival traditionally brings global stories to London, transforming the city to stage, presenting unique cultural experiences and sharing the stories of the world with the culturally curious.
